Tile Adhesive Grey+ Premium

Chennai paints – Grey+ Premium Tile adhesive is a high polymer modified cement-based adhesive which is smooth & creamy, sanded bagged cementations powder with a high performance for installing ceramic tiles, vitrify tiles (semi vitrified tiles) glass mosaic tiles, precast terrazzo and natural stones. it can also be used in areas like swimming pool, water bodies, and washrooms. it has good underwater bonding properties. it can also be used for tile-on-tile applications.

Application

  • Can be used for interior wall and floor and exterior floor applications over masonry, concrete, mortar beds and cement plaster in residential & commercial buildings.
  • All surfaces should be between 40° F (4°C) and 104°F (40°C). Apply tile adhesive to the substrate with a spatula and comb with a notched spatula to ensure full bedding, Adhesive should at least cover 90% of the surface of each wall tile/stone etc.
  • Add one part of portable water to 2.5 parts of Tile Adhesive Grey+ by volume into a mixing bowl and mix to form a thick lump free and trowel able consistency, Add little more water if required only to obtain workable mix. (Mixing can be done by hand or slow speed mixer) Leave the adhesive to stand for 5-10 minutes before using.
  • Place the wall tiles/stones into the moist ribbed bed and press firmly, Adjustments if any can be made within 10 minutes.
  • Use the proper sized notched trowel to ensure full bedding of the tile.
  • Back butter when large format tiles (> 12” x 12”) to provide full bedding and firm support. Remove the residual material before drying.
  • (Addition of Chennai Paints Grout Admix+ partially or completely replacing water would enhance the bond and flexibility of adhesive.) Use spacers to provide grout joints between tiles/ stones. When the adhesive is set remove the spacers.
  • During installation of tile/stone on the external floors, to create spaces between the tile/stone to fill up with grout providing of spacers is recommended. (If the spacers are not used the surface movements can push tile/stone away from the substrate causing de-bonding of tile/stone) While applying exterior tile/stone, providing spacers on the periphery of the area without allowing the tile/stone to be bound by the peripheral masonry work/plaster

Advantages

  • Dual use-for both floors & walls
  • Excellent non-sag formula
  • Smooth, easy to use
  • Increased flexibility
  • Can be applied on Existing Vitrified & Ceramic tile (Surface to be cleaned and roughened before installation)*
  • Type-2 Tile Adhesive

Note

  • For wet on wet application and tiles and stones installations on plywood and wood substrates, kindly get in touch with us for proper guidance’s and application method
  • For all stones / glass tiles with a back-protection mesh, it is always recommended to remove the mesh clean it thoroughly and for stone tiles remove the epoxy layer ( after removing the mesh ) by grinding the stones lightly to ensure a perfect bond with the tile adhesive8
  • If the adhesive is skinned over (not sticking anymore / or lack of gumming) remove it and replace with fresh adhesive. Do not reuse or mix it with fresh adhesive. Discard it totally.
  • For glass mosaic tiles application, use a “V “(3mm can also be used) notch trowel approximately 4mm is essential to achieve a bed thickness of 1.5 to 2mm.
  • For ceiling installations of tiles and stones- it is very essential to undertake the pull-off strength of the cement- based substrates before installation as the cement based substrates are weak in cohesive strength. This is a very essential check for all overhead installations.
